     Welcome to my site.
This site is dedicated to providing anyone who is interested, information on exotic frogs species and successful captive care, which would otherwise be difficult to find out on your own. Also contained in here is the information the pet store didn't tell you, that may prove to be crucial to the health of your frog(s). My name is Serge, I have been collecting frogs ever since I was allowed outside. As a kid, I was always bringing home frogs, turtles, and snakes from the local ponds in the central Maryland area where I grew up. About 4 years ago, I decided to make a vivarium after seeing a setup at a local pet store. I studied how they built the tank in the store, what they used for substrate, plants, animals, etc. I set a 35 gallon hexagon tank up with water on the bottom and vines hanging from the top of the cage, into the water, with aquatic plants floating all over the top of the water. After about a year, I felt I was ready for a larger tank, with some smooth talking, and I do mean smooth, I had my brothers empty 80 gallon in my room. With the larger tank, it gave me a chance to house even more frogs and give me more space to experiment with setups in. To this date, I have successfully kept over 12 different species of exotic frogs alive and healthy at one time or another. Now that I'm at college, my collection lives on with friends of mine who have time that is needed to take care of it. |
![]() I went through a lot of trials and problems with the tank and its setup, some of which I still have not figured out how to solve. I did finally figure out a way to set up a tank that basically took care of itself, all I had to do was wipe down the glass and put food in it. I had the 80 gallon set up in this manner for over a year, and I did not break the tank down once to clean it, I only wiped the glass down, and added water when needed. Everything else was automatic, misting, lights, and even "seasonal" temperature changes. I had created an almost perfect living ecosystem in my room. |
