Starting with my dad's old Vietnam War Era Pentax at the age of 14, I entered the world of Photography. Soon a Nikon F100, D1 and later an D1X were following. When I started college in 1997, I got my first digital camera and became a trigger-happy fool. Once I graduated from college in 2001, I started getting paid for my photography, but there was still much to be desired in the quality of my work and the understanding of my craft. As luck would have it, I fell into a paid intern position with Paul Hartmann, who was based out of Silver Springs, MD at the time. He taught me the basics of ligting and shooting with a high-end digital SLR. I went on many shoots with him, working for clients like Ted Nudgent, Gov. Ann Richards, Bob Dole, National Geographic, and other various large corporations.
While I was living in Maryland, September 11th happened and shortly thereafter I decided to move back to sunny St. Petersburg, Florida. I started shooting desination weddings at the local beach resorts. In mid 2004 I met Stephen Rudd, who took me under his wing as his assistant. I spent a good deal of my time with stephen mastering my lighting and composition. I worked with Stephen every weekend for 2 years, till I got a crazy idea to buy into a sign franchise. Currently my sign shop takes up 90% of my time, leaving very little room for photograpy. I still assist Stephen from time to time, but I mostly take pictures for my own enjoyment.
